About the Wishbrook Foundation
The Wishbrook Foundation is a private family foundation established in 2007. We make both program and operating grants to US-based nonprofit organizations that qualify for public charity status under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
Vision
We want to live in a world where communities and ecosystems can thrive. A necessary foundation is a healthy environment and responsible stewardship of natural resources. On this base, individual and community well-being improves with access to respectful healthcare, reliable information, and opportunities for personal growth and understanding. Our wish is to improve access to the resources that can help people and planet flourish.

The Wishbrook Foundation provides financial support to nonprofit organizations that are working to enhance the well being of individuals, communities, and the environment through access, understanding, and innovation.

To move toward our vision of a thriving world, we support initiatives in the following areas:
One
Supporting Health and Well-Being
One of the greatest inequities in American society is access and choice surrounding health and other facets of well-being. Marginalized populations—including neurodivergent, chronically ill, and low-income individuals—often cannot access healthcare information due to gaps in professional and personal understanding. We support innovative solutions to address these barriers to health and well-being.
Two
Enabling Knowledge and Understanding
Human growth and change comes through formal education, informal learning, and critical thinking about our world. Online resources have multiplied opportunities to spread knowledge and understanding, but credible, evidence-based content is under threat and under-funded. We support nonprofit educational resources and journalism.
Three
Protecting the Future of Our Natural World
We are concerned about climate change and the impact of human activity on our environment. Animals, plants, and ecosystems silently bear the consequences of human action. We support innovative, scientifically sound efforts to undo existing damage and find solutions for a more sustainable future.
Who We Fund
Grants are awarded to nonprofit 501(c)(3) organizations anywhere in the US.
Our Mission and Vision are broad and flexible enough to encompass nonprofits of all types, but we hope to provide meaningful support that enables smaller organizations to accomplish a specific, measurable impact or a longer-term goal that is not currently possible with existing resources.
We aim to build relationships with grantees that have good ideas and the ability to execute. We are open to both proven strategies and new solutions that combine inspiration from diverse fields in innovative ways.
We strive to offer a streamlined grant process, awarding both operating and program grants, enabling nonprofits to address both short-term and long-term needs.

How to Apply
The Wishbrook Foundation currently has no paid staff and relies on volunteered time by family members who review proposals. As a result, our turnaround time for proposal evaluation depends on the volume of requests.The Foundation evaluates grant applications on a rolling basis throughout the year. Currently there are no deadlines for grants based on type as is done at other foundations. Applications received between October 1 and December 31 may be considered for the following calendar year.

Are there geographic preferences for funding?
No, we are open to funding nonprofits anywhere in the US.
Does the Wishbrook Foundation fund individuals or businesses?
No, we only fund valid 501(c)(3) organizations. We will also vet your organization's nonprofit standing through an external service.
When and how will I know if my project was funded?
If we conclude that there is no prospect of funding, we will notify you promptly. If the Foundation decides that your project might qualify for a grant, we will contact you to discuss next steps and what further information is required. Because we are a small organization with no paid staff, this may take up to a month.
What mistakes do organizations make with their applications?
Applications that are incomplete, unclear, or do not follow instructions are rarely funded. Proposals that do not define an area of impact are unlikely to be funded. Requests for materials or a project that seem like more of a “want” than a “need” are unlikely to be funded.
